Different Types of Beds Available Today

Posted May 4, 2010

There are a lot of different types of beds available in the market like bedsteads, air beds, water beds, divans, sofa beds, adjustable beds or sprung base beds.

A bedstead usually has a wooden frame. The mattress is placed on wooden slats at the base. You can also find the metal variety in which metal or mesh slats provide the support for the mattress.

Air beds, also called blow up mattresses, are mostly used in camping trips due to their convenience and portable nature. Most of the air beds come with foot pumps; you can also use electric pumps to blow them up in minutes. They can also serve as a sleeping space for overnight guests.

Water beds, as the name says it, beds filled with water. You can find two types of water beds: soft sided water bed and hard sided water bed. The early models of water beds had a wave effect which is now eliminated in the latest costly models.  You can heat water beds and use a thermostat to control the temperature.

Divans are really popular and are very cheap when compared to other types of beds. Made from wood, divans have a covering material and a mattress on the top. A lot of divans have built in storage spaces.

There are some special types of sofas that can be converted to bed if there is a need. They are known as sofa beds. You can keep them in a spare room as a sofa and then pull them down to convert it to a bed. Finding a proper sofa bed for sale is highly recommended.

Adjustable beds are great for people who have to adjust the height and angle of the bed to provide relief to an aching back. It is also good for bedridden people as the bed can be raised for them to eat food or watch TV. Usually, adjustable beds are hospital beds though you can find chic designs for home use.

In sprung base beds, there are springs in the bed frame that provides more support to the mattress. This will increase the life of the mattress.

You can also find different types of kids’ beds like car shaped beds, a cabin bed, computer desk attached to the beds or beds shaped like a cartoon character, etc.

I believe no other piece shapes a room's personality more than a proper new window. It does not matter whether you go for classic luxury for a showpiece home or pleasant practicality for the bathroom. Look and feel for windows that will suit your style and budget too.  Your new upvc windows should by all means be measured and installed by a professional installer, who can also help you choose exactly which windows will best compliment your house from the inside and outside.

If you're considering replacing your existing windows there is no point in waiting any longer. The benefits begin immediately. From enhancing the interior of your house to adding to its appeal, new windows change a home from ordinary to spectacular. What is more, they give one of the best returns on investment counting any possible home improvement project. I personally recommend upvc windows and doors because they are a wise choice if you are looking for windows and doors that are energy efficient and affordable as well.

Windows are the so called thermal holes. Houses lose almost 40% on average of its heat or air-conditioning energy through their windows. Energy-efficient windows save cash each and every month. On top of that, you will be cosier the entire time while you live with them.  In this day and age of saving on energy expenses, you really cannot go wrong with replacing the windows in your home.

It does not matter whether you are buying windows for your new home, or you are simply choosing windows to replace old ones in your current house, you should choose them wisely, like you should choose any type of furniture wisely as well.  Window additions are an investment, and if chosen properly your investment will pay back for sure..
